(MENAFN) A recent study showed that the UAE has the lowest software piracy rate at 36 percent in the Arab countries thanks to key legislation, strict enforcement and intensive information campaigns, Emirates Business 24/7 reported.
The Sixth Annual BSA, IDC Global Software Study, said that UAE piracy rate rose by only two percent from 34 percent recorded in 2006, confirming the need for continued efforts to curb piracy.
The report, developed by research and industry tracker International Data Corporation (IDC), has outlined a five-point strategy that the UAE Government can implement within the next four years to reduce piracy. The report entitled, ‘How to Reduce Software Piracy in the Middle East and Africa’, identifies the five areas of legislation, enforcement, education, collaboration and leadership in implementing effective and sustainable policies to reduce software piracy and protect intellectual property rights.
