Morocco reports 14% rise in tourist arrivals

(MENAFN) The Moroccan Tourism Ministry said that the number of tourists who visited the kingdom in January and February this year has increased by 14 percent from the same period of 2009, Reuters reported.

According to a statement from the ministry, the number of tourists visiting Morocco reached one million in the year to February. It added that French tourists topped the list (386,000), followed by Spaniards (227,000) and Brits with (57,000).

For their part, tourism receipts rose to $778.5 million in the same period, registering an increase of 10.5 percent compared to the same period last year.

The tourist sector was one of the sectors that were affected by the international financial crisis.
