Jordan’s jobless rate rises to 12.4% in Q1

(MENAFN) A report issued by Jordan’s Department of Statistics (DoS) showed that the kingdom’s unemployment rate during the first quarter of 2010 reached 12.4 percent compared with 12.2 during a year earlier and 12.1 percent in the previous quarter, Petra reported.

DoS results showed a rise in unemployment among university degree holders as it reached 15.7 percent. The rate was similar to the same quarter of the 2008.

The figures indicated that 1 percent of the unemployed are illiterate, 47 percent have less than secondary school qualifications, while about 52 percent of unemployed are secondary certificate holders and higher.
