His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, made an inspection visit on Tuesday 11th October 2011
to the new BBK Health Centre in Hidd as part of his policy of inspecting development projects throughout the Kingdom that serve the interests of the citizens. The visit marked the opening of the Health Centre
His Royal Highness was welcomed on arrival by HE Dr. Fatima bint Mohamed Al Balushi, Acting Minister of Health and Minister of Human Rights and Development, Mr. Murad Ali Murad, BBK Chairman, Mr. Abdulkarim Bucheery, BBK Chief Executive and in the presence of BBK Board members and the Bank’s Senior Management along Senior Officials from the Ministry of Health.
In his opening remarks, His Royal Highness the Prime Minister urged other organizations from the private sector to follow the example of BBK– which is the main contributor to the Hidd Health Centre.
On the occasion Mr. Murad Ali Murad, BBK Chairman expressed his gratitude to HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa for visiting the BBK Health Center.
He also expressed his pleasure at the completion of this project that represents the most advanced health care facility in the Kingdom amongst health centers and boast the best design standards and the most advanced medical equipments.
BBK Chairman explained that the Bank’s decision to build this health centre was an integral part of its initiatives in the area of corporate social responsibility and also aligned with the Ministry of Health’s plan for development of preventative and medical services allowing the citizens’ access to good health services. He emphasized that it was vital for the private sector to join hands with the public sector in the support of the community.
He added: “The corporate social responsibility towards the Kingdom is of utmost importance for BBK and we are proud that we build this modern health centre that will provide basic medical care to the residents of Hidd and the surrounding areas.”
The total cost of the project including construction, medical equipments and furniture amounted to BD3.9 million. The construction works of BBK Health centre, which covers an area of about 6,200 square meters continued for around 18 months, with an addition of 6 months for furbishing and equipping the centre.
The two-storey health centre houses a medical records department, a nursing department, a theatre for minor surgeries and a medical treatment room. The centre has two rooms for medical isolation, a maternity unit and three antenatal clinics. There are X-ray facilities, a laboratory and a pharmacy in addition to 3 dental technician rooms and 6 dental clinics, in addition to 26 family physician clinics.
There will also be a section for mobile units to provide care for elderly patients in addition to a special emergency and ambulance services.
Apart from providing most of the health care services, the Centre has a special section for school health to serve the whole of Muharraq and is considered as the second of its kind in the Kingdom. In addition, there is a medical education department that serves to qualify family physicians. This facility comprises classrooms, conference rooms and a library for medical trainees.
The BBK Health Centre Centre has a workforce of around 70 employees and will provide its services to residents of Block 110 which covers the areas of Hidd, Hallat Al Naim and Hallat Al Salt. The Health Centres Directorate is considering the addition of Galali village to the areas covered by this Centre in future.
Meanwhile, the Centre’s administration will not ask members of the public to transfer their files as it has already transferred and updated the relevant files and will give notice to the public to amend their addresses if they were not already updated.
BBK plans to set up a new branch at this facility to provide its banking services to the people of Hidd and surrounding areas.
