In line with their strategic initiatives for a brighter community, BBK- Bahrain’s pioneer in retail and commercial banking- handed over a cheque of BD 5,000 as a gesture of their support towards Bahrain society for Sickle Cell Disease Patients cares. The cheque was handed over by Mr. Abdulkarim Bucheery, Chief Executive of BBK to Mr. Zakariya Ebrahim AlKadhem, Chairman- Bahrain society for SCD Patients cares, in the presence of Isa Khalil Ebrahim, Vice President- Bahrain society for SCD Patients cares, Mr. Reyadh Sater- General Manager- Shared Services Group- BBK, Mr. Abdul Hussain Bustani- Assistant General Manger- Human Resources and Administration- BBK and Ms. Abeer Swar- Corporate Communication Officer- BBK.

The Bank’s valuable support has contributed to the continuous activities of the Bahrain Society for SCD Patients Care.  Such care requires significant financial support to educate Bahraini families and patients about this disease. 

The Bahrain Society for SCD Patients Care is a local association concerned with care for sickle cell patients and seeks to combat the spread of genetic diseases in the Bahraini community according to the applicable laws in the Kingdom. 

The Society seeks to further enhance family awareness, urging local families to support patients socially and psychologically. Other objectives include laying down the basic rules of dealings between patients, medical teams and nursing staff. Meanwhile, the Society strives to support the needy patients financially according to its internal regulations. Communication is maintained between the Society and Ministry of Health to discuss patients’ affairs and to keep abreast of developments in this area with the ultimate objective of helping patients.

The Society seeks to realize its objectives through holding seminars, forums, events and workshops, distributing leaflets and participating in publications to enhance awareness. Medical advice is also provided by the Society during visits to patients at hospital to monitor their conditions. 

The Society’s Board of Directors expressed their thanks and appreciation to BBK for this donation that has a significant impact upon supporting the Society’s activities and development of the Bahrain community in general.
