Al Thani calls for more efficient private sector

09 Apr 2010

(MENAFN) Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem Al Thani, called for a more efficient role by the Federation of GCC Chambers (FGCCC) in order to raise the level of the private sector’s performance amid the prevailing challenges facing the region, The Peninsula reported.

Al Thani said that urging the GCC private sector to be more active would give it the capability to set true partnerships either with governments or foreign firms, which posses the technologies required for growth.

Speaking at the opening of the FGCCC Outlook 2010 Forum, Al Thani pointed out to the emergence of major economic blocks that put fierce competition to Arab and Gulf economies, in addition to the financial crisis which crippled or led to the failure of giant financial institutions as major challenges facing the Gulf and Arab economies.

The prime minister called on Gulf businesses to join force and integrate processes rather than waiting for governments’ initiatives.
