28 Bahraini women graduate from BBK Digital Literacy Programme

BBK, Bahrain’s pioneer in retail and commercial banking, announced the graduation of 28 Bahraini women from the BBK digital literacy programme. The latter was launched with the aim to empower 100 Bahraini women with the skills needed to deal with the digital age, making them familiar with the applications and electronic platforms.  

BBK Group Chief Executive, Dr. AbdulRahman Ali Saif, affirmed that this initiative is in line with the Bank’s appreciation for the significant role that Bahraini women play in the society, and even more during the exceptional circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the occasion, Dr. Saif said, “The concept and structure of the digital literacy programme was developed by BBK and this includes, training the participants in basic ICT skills, use of e-banking and e-government services and has targeted  women of various skills many of whom contribute to civil society as well . This is in addition to spreading awareness on how to deal with information security threats on the internet and how to protect privacy.”

Dr. Saif expressed his thanks to the Supreme Council for Women for their support. He extended his appreciation as well to The Information and eGovernment Authority for the prominent role they played to deliver one of the session and ensuring the success of this programme. He also thanked BIBF, as the main partner who delivered and the programme in the best possible conditions despite the current special circumstances.

Dr. Dunya Ahmed Abdullah, Strategic Planning Advisor and Mrs. Rania Ahmed Al Jarf, Director of the Gender Balance Center from the Supreme Council for Women, and Mrs. Lulwa Sami Ibrahim, Director of Communication and Marketing from the Information and eGovernment Authority attended the virtual ceremony hosted by Dr Saif, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Al Shaikh, Director of the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance. And Mr. Hassaan Burshaid, Chief Executive Officer of the Human Resources and Administration Group at BBK.

Dr. Ahmed Al Shaikh expressed his gratitude to BBK for launching this distinguished initiative, which reflects the bank’s keenness to support education and the development of talents and skills in different segments of society while accelerating the digital transformation in the Kingdom  and supporting the implementation of the programs of the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women, specifically lifelong learning through raising the capabilities of Bahraini women towards achieving national aspirations and technological development.
