Dubai non-oil exports surge 23% in 2009

(MENAFN) Dubai Customs reported that the emirate’s non-oil exports hit an all time high during 2009, The Peninsula reported.

Data shows that that Dubai’s non-oil exports grew to $14.26 billion last year, a 23 percent rise over the 2008’s figure of $11.6 billion.

The authority said that Dubai-based producers are showing more interest in ensuring that their products meet international standards, while offering the customer an added value in terms of making the purchase.

The customs department said that Dubai is an attractive business environment with the absence of taxes, low customs duties and strategic geographical location in the region.

It is worth mentioning that firms within the emirate already export to over 170 countries.
